Name: Marquissa Channel Johnson-DeLong Date: January 29th, 1983 - July 27th, 2010 Obituary: Marquissa Channel Johnson-DeLong went home to be with her Lord the morning of Tuesday, July 27, 2010, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri, at the age of 27 years, 5 months and 28 days. Marquissa was born January 29, 1983, at the General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. She grew up in St. Robert, and attended Waynesville schools, graduating from Waynesville High School in 2001. As a young girl, Marquissa professed her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and was baptized. She attended the New Life Holiness Church, and later the First Assembly of God Church in St. Robert. Marquissa worked as a cashier for several local restaurants. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Marquissa was very dearly loved, and will be sadly missed by her parents: Carmen Russell (Richard), Waynesville, and Mark Johnson, Fairbanks, Alaska; grandmother: Betty Smith, and brother: Cameron Johnson, Sr., both of St. Robert; sisters: Juanita, Lena and Frances Russell; nephew: Cameron Johnson, Jr., Atlanta, Georgia; uncle: Joseph Smith (Wendy), Kansas City; aunt: Helen Fields, West Palm Beach, Florida; cousins: Charles Smith, St. Robert, Javon, Jayla and Jayonna Smith, all of Kansas City; other cousins, relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her grandfather: Joseph Smith and aunt: Karen Smith. Funeral services were held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 31, 2010 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory with Pastor Christopher B. Wiggs officiating. The songs “I Am Free” and “I Can Only Imagine” were played. Serving as escorts were Cheryl Hardin, Greg Glenn and Jye Green. Burial followed in the Sunset Memorial Estates Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville/St. Robert. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Marquissa Johnson-DeLong and may be left at the funeral home.
